This book tells the historical changes of the Yangtze River's nature and humanity in a schematic way. It first introduces the origin of the name of the Yangtze River, the history of exploring the source of the river for thousands of years, the historical and natural geographical changes of the Yangtze River channel, and the development of the golden waterway. Then it is divided into three sections: the upper reaches, the middle reaches, and the lower reaches, and a brief history of the development of some important towns along the Yangtze River trunk road and the historical changes of the great lakes and famous mountains are described. He also introduced the scenic spots along the Yangtze River and reviewed some wars and even economic and cultural activities that had occurred on the Yangtze River in history. As a large number of long-lasting legends, stories and folk customs are interspersed in the book, it makes it more interesting to read.
