During the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, thousands of serfs led by Degamuka Bulong in the Jiarong-Tibet area of Sichuan rose up in rebellion, overthrew the rule of native women, abolished the Ula service, and equalized land wealth, which dealt a heavy blow to the brutal ruling class. They resisted the serfs and fought bloody battles with the Qing army. In the end, they were outnumbered and the uprising failed miserably. This serf uprising, known in history as the "Qiongshan Uprising" or "Kalong Incident", was a serf uprising with great influence in Tibetan history.
