by Yingyong
About This Novel
On a midsummer day in the seventh year of Taihe in the Northern and Southern Dynasties (AD 483), as it was getting dark, surrounded by some ministers, eunuchs, and guards, two wedding carriages carrying Emperor Xiaowen Tuoba Hong of the Northern Wei Dynasty, sisters Feng Miaolian and Feng Yulian on the left and Zhaoyi on the right, entered the south gate of the palace located in the northern half of Pingcheng (now Datong, Shanxi). Feng Miaolian and Feng Yulian's wedding cars arrived at the gate of the East Palace one after another and got off one after another. Both of them are seventeen years old (age is based on the traditional custom of indicating the age). Both of them have four braids on the back of their heads, small square hats embroidered with colorful lilies, light green jackets, sky blue leggings, and green cloth shoes embroidered with lotus flowers and cloud patterns. Although the two girls are dressed the same, it can be concluded from their appearance that they are not twins.
