About This Novel
This book tells the story of the Balaght clan, the descendants of Genghis Khan. Balu and other nine hundred Mongolian soldiers followed his brother Shajin to pursue the Nian army. Corrupt Qing officials would rather escort prostitutes than send troops, causing the Mongolian army to be completely annihilated. Balu was disheartened and ran away from home. Sha Jin's son Batur and his clan brothers vowed to kill Ma Zhenghe to avenge their father. Batur fell off a cliff and was saved by Helen, the daughter of a Belgian missionary. Although the Nian Army was destroyed, the court became increasingly corrupt and society became increasingly dark. People think that the corruption and darkness are caused by foreigners entering China. The Boxer Rebellion broke out, and angry people beat Helen to death, leaving Batur in great pain. Soon, the Eight-Power Allied Forces captured Beijing, and Cixi ordered the suppression of the Boxer Rebellion. When Batur was beheaded, both Balu and Ma Zhenghe appeared, and the two teamed up to rescue Batur.
