Gorgeous Life
About This Novel
Are there any rules in the world? The thief Kurosawa opened the door and met a neighbor he had never met before. After he enthusiastically helped the neighbor carry away his drunk friend, he picked up a piece of paper with foreign characters written on it; Kawarazaki, who loves painting, was waiting for someone in the cafe. He graffitied on the back of a flyer he got. The front of the flyer was a missing person notice with details on it. It describes the characteristics of the missing young man; the psychological counselor Kyoko received a call from her husband early in the morning, who filed for divorce, and she planned to join forces with her lover to get rid of their current partners tonight; the unemployed middle-aged Toyota was rejected for the fortieth time, and he wandered near the station and heard passers-by chatting about "stray dogs." If the world starts with this, what will happen next? The young painter Shinako and the middle-aged painting dealer Toda want to make a bet. Who do you think can win?

A very new and unique group portrait article
Each short chapter of this book is written about only 1 or 2 characters, and the story unfolds from their perspective. But slowly you will find that each character and their stories are woven together into a complete and bizarre story. This kind of POV writing method is also often used by Mr. Martin in "A Song of Ice and Fire". Although "A Gorgeous Life" only contains less than ten characters, you can see many shadows of yourself and the people around you. What impressed me the most were two marginalized people, who had their own gorgeous lives: One is a rough awakening: an unemployed middle-aged man who tried repeatedly to rob and take revenge on his superiors after being laid off. In the end, he was not moved by the money and jobs that came from the sky, and only cared about the old dog that saved his life. One is a committed gamer: a thief who gets into stealing early on and sticks to his unique philosophy. He is cynical but has professional ethics and never fails. He has the ability to judge people and can be a psychological counselor. ... Another reason to recommend everyone to read this book is: when answering questions from Chinese readers, the Japanese writer recommended Mo Yan's "Life and Death Fatigue"
