The Truth Tetralogy
About This Novel
"The Quartet of Truth" is a collection of four selected works by American Indian flag bearer Louise Erdrich, including "La Rose", "The Shadow Game", "The Butcher's Club" and "The Beet Queen". Most of Erdrich's novels are set in North Dakota, USA, and incorporate Indian culture. Several novels are related to each other and together form a larger story. Some characters who appear in one novel may continue to develop their stories in another novel, but each novel can still be regarded as an independent individual. Among them, "La Rose" is the final work of the author's "Justice Trilogy". It won the Novel Award from the National Book Critics Association, one of the three major literary awards in the United States, and is listed as a must-read for American high school students and college students. "The Shadow Stepping Game" is based on the author's real marriage tragedy, focusing on women's weak status and weak culture, triggering diverse discussions on women's living conditions and identity. "The Uncrowned King" in Erdrich's novel "The Butcher's Club" is a masterpiece of her peak period. It incorporates elements such as suspense and murder, and has a strong story. It has been rated as one of her works full of life wisdom by readers. "The Beet Queen" is one of the author's early masterpieces. It was nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award in 1986 and is also a controversial work of the author.
