About This Novel
There are only two aesthetic masters in Japanese literature, one is Kawabata Yasunari and the other is Tanizaki Junichiro. This is a classic Japanese aesthetic book that influenced Tadao Ando and Kenya Hara! "In Praise of Shadows" starts with home decoration and discusses the important role of "shadows" in people's daily lives. The author's delicate writing style and deep understanding of the beauty of Japan not only bring readers different aesthetic feelings, but also provide thought-provoking wisdom about life. Even though the sunshine is beautiful and allows all things to grow freely, shadow is indispensable. This book contains six essays: "Lazyness", "Love and Erotica", "Osaka and Osaka People in My Eyes", "About "Idiot Art"", "Hometown", and "Food Memories of Childhood". Both are masterpieces of prose by Tanizaki Junichiro.
