I am very happy that this edition of Liu's short story collection is named after "Bring Her Eyes on". This novel can be regarded as my science fiction enlightenment reading. As a text for the sixth grade of elementary school, this novel brought great shock to me who was naive and ignorant at that time. Although I didn't understand what the teacher meant by science fiction, as a young person, I believed that there really was a magical pair of glasses in the world that could share vision, smell, and even touch, and that there really was a brave man who stayed in the center of the earth forever. I kept searching for information and news about Sunset 6 on the Internet. Unsurprisingly, I found nothing except the content in the text. But this didn't stop me from falling in love with science fiction. I remembered the essay "Me in Twenty Years" that I wrote when I was younger. In the essay, I had become a scientist and landed on Mars (hahaha). This should be regarded as my earliest science fiction creation. Later, in junior high school, I came into contact with science fiction novels such as "The Three-Body Problem" and "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea". It was also at this time that I began to read other novels by Liu, from "Whale Song" to "Devil's Blocks" (this is also one of my favorite Liu's works), until I read "The Cannon of the Earth", and the next one was "Bring Her Eyes". I was shocked. It turns out that these two novels are companion pieces. Of course, after a few years, when I read this novel again, I found that this novel is different from Liu's previous style in that even if it does not describe those grand backgrounds and only has a few simple science fiction settings and a few foreshadowings, it does not prevent it from becoming an excellent novel. Why, I personally think it is because of the suspense set at the beginning, as well as the first-person description of the protagonist and other factors, which make the readers of this novel have a strong sense of involvement and curiosity. Until the final answer is revealed, their heads will explode. Even if I read it again already knowing the answer, I will still be attracted by the charming storyline, and once again impressed by Liu's imagination and writing style. Now I am a member of the school's science fiction society and have read many different types of science fiction. After many years, I took this opportunity to read Liu's short stories again, hoping to have a different experience.
