About This Novel
On the 25th day of the twelfth lunar month, a beggar died at the end of Hanlin Village. At first, people just talked about it. A beggar died under the stone arch bridge at the end of the village. Lao Guo stood on the window sill of the back door of the post office and told Osmanthus about this matter. Guihua felt unsure after hearing this. I don't know who that beggar is. Could it be Cheng Liuer? Osmanthus stood there and saw that the hard light of winter had been dragged far away, and the sunflowers hung softly on the cement floor. Several dogs lay in the shadow of the light, enjoying the joy brought back from afar by people who went out to work. Guihua's two children also just returned from college. They heard Lao Guo telling Guihua about the village end, so they followed their mother. When she saw the corpse, Guihua's feet were soft: her face could not be distinguished clearly and was covered with blood clots; her hair was messy and her clothes were even more torn.
