Inside and Outside the Customs
by People Need Emotional Stability
About This Novel
In the late 1970s, the small fishing village of Nanguo was transformed into a special zone. A three-meter-high barbed wire fence divides Shenzhen into the inner and outer customs. Machines roar outside the customs and there are many high-rise buildings inside the customs. "Urban immigrants" from all over the world have dreams of gold rush. They hold the border guard station and go in and out of the customs, weaving dreams. After the millennium, the barbed wire fences have corroded, checkpoints have been revoked, the visible gates have collapsed, and the invisible gates have towered into the sky. The "new generation of urban immigrants" go in and out of glamorous office buildings during the day, but lie in dirty urban villages at night, accepting the cruel waves for the sake of their unchanging dream of gold mining. Over the decades, people continue to leave, and more people continue to arrive. Youth passes from generation to generation, and this city seems to have always been young.
