About This Novel
"Hell of the Brain" is a full-length mystery novel by the Japanese writer Yumeno Hisaku. It is known as Japan's four great mystery books together with "The Murder at the Black Death Hall" by Oguri Mushitarō, "An Offering to the Void" by Nakai Hideo and "The Lost Music in the Box" by Takemoto Kenji. Yumeno Kusaku had completed the first draft of this early work - "The Liberation Treatment of Madmen" as early as 1927. However, after ten years of revision, it was released in 1935 under the name "Hell of the Brain".
