Book ReviewDo great good and tolerate small evil
This sentence was repeated by Paul to convince himself to cooperate with people of all religions for the sake of intelligence. It sounds very reasonable. One person has killed more than fifty Americans and will continue to do so. The other has only killed one American and has washed his hands of the crime. Therefore, Paul chose to protect the latter for the sake of information about the former. However, as long as a person has blood on his hands, no matter how much, he cannot be forgiven, and no one has the right to cover up his sins by "tolerating small evils." The American judiciary will never and cannot be reduced to asking for help from a person who murders its own citizens. Will fail, perhaps simply because he was wrong to begin with. There is a certain truth in doing great good and tolerating small evils, but we cannot retreat from the issue of principle. The small evils that Paul calls are just excuses made by incompetent people. Without Dexter, maybe Paul's "Peregrine Plan" would have succeeded, maybe he could have stopped Osama, and maybe not so many innocent people would have died. However, there are not so many possibilities in the world.

Book ReviewThe Great Avenger
Dexter is the most touching character in this book. After experiencing the pain of a white-haired person sending a black-haired person to someone else, many people either sink into despair or get out of this shadow. Dexter is a man hovering between the two. He has never forgotten the pain caused to him by the death of his daughter and wife, but he still lives an active life and begins the revenge of the "Avengers" outside the law. When Dexter was a child, he was a typical member of the lower class of society. He had no education and no philosophy of life. But during the years when he became a soldier and participated in the Vietnam War, the hidden and sensitive qualities in him were completely aroused. He is a knight who comes and goes without a trace. Paul tried his best and failed to find him. Although there was help from many people, it was all the reward for Dexter's good deeds. His revenge is not just for himself, but for all the parents like him who lost their children because of some scum. Dexter is well into his fifties, and the "Avengers" business continues. This is a career that supports him to survive. The pain is inflicted on himself, but he uses it as a medium to feel the pain of everyone who has experienced tragic experiences like him.
