About This Novel

"That Place in Memory" was selected for Australia's 2007 ACT Writing and Publishing Awards. The theme it explores is what kind-hearted people will do in order to survive when they are forced to do anything. Dan Campbell is haunted by his past and sinks increasingly into despair as the years pass. On his 11th birthday 30 years ago, he witnessed his father being killed and saved his mother from a crazy stranger. But every time he recalled that terrible day, he always felt like something was wrong. But he couldn't see clearly, it seemed to be out of focus in his memory. The depression and despair he felt every year on his birthday had hurt his current family, so he decided to take his mother back to his childhood home to face his memories and put an end to the past. Traveling back in time isn't easy, and what Dan discovers there will turn his world upside down, as everything and everyone conflicts with his memories, and when his present meets his past, his life is threatened.
