Father Goes to Town

About This Novel
This book contains two novellas: "Father Goes to Town" and "Father's Later Life". The son got a house and a car in Shanghai, took his wife and settled down, and began to take his father to the city to celebrate the New Year. My father has been living in the remote Tarping. There are no telephones or any electrical appliances in the village. All food and supplies are self-sufficient. Basically, we are still in a primitive society. My father is illiterate and cannot speak Mandarin. He is also deaf and has lost his teeth. After arriving in Shanghai, he seemed out of place in terms of food, clothing, housing, and transportation, including bathing, going to the toilet, and taking the elevator. A series of ridiculous and heartbreaking stories happened. "My father raised me hard and hoped that I would walk out of the mountains as far as possible. The distance is my future and his achievement; the distance is my homesickness and his loneliness." It makes people reflect: Where is the real distance between the city and the countryside?
