About This Novel
This is a novel based on the growth history of private bookstores. The novel tells the story of the protagonist, Lin Zhiguang, who opened the "Light of the Left Bank" bookstore with his love for books. With the ideal of making the "Light of the Left Bank" bookstore the largest private bookstore in Jin City, he constantly innovated the business model and encountered setbacks. In the changes of the times, he developed from a single store to a chain store, then reduced it from a chain store to a single store, and finally adhered to the ideal of the book industry as an online bookstore. The work also portrays characters such as Wang Qingshan who runs an educational bookstore, Xie Dajun who runs a second-hand book business, newspaper reporter Shen Mo, book collector Hu Yang, and Zhuo Hui who marries a mentally retarded person in order to change her destiny. It uses the changes of the times as clues to tell the characters' respective entrepreneurial journeys and emotional entanglements, and finally find where they belong.
