About This Novel

The Japanese army invented a new tactic to defend the island, Peleliu, where the U. S. Military suffered the highest casualty rate. After the Battle of Guadalcanal, the Allied forces began to counterattack in the Pacific War. To cross the vast Pacific Ocean, many islands must be captured as support points. Therefore, by 1943, the number of U. S. Marines suddenly expanded to 309,559, an increase of almost 10 times compared with 27,925 in 1940. In order to maintain the situation of continuous landing operations, the Marine Corps also incorporated Marine aviation, artillery, armored forces and rear support forces. In 1944, it finally established the Fleet Marine Corps, a huge amphibious warfare group.
