About This Novel

"Some days are like taking a deep breath and holding it. Some summers refuse to end." "Fahrenheit 451" author and "science fiction poet" Ray Bradbury is the final work of the coming-of-age novel "Greentown Trilogy", a wonderful story about childhood, summer, time and death; "Summer Farewell" is the last novel published by Ray Bradbury, the author of "Fahrenheit 451" and science fiction master, before his death. This story took a long fifty-five years to take shape. It is the perfect conclusion of the "Green Town Trilogy", a masterpiece of coming-of-age novels, and returns to the origin of the author's life creation. The story takes place in the late summer of 1929. The once lazy and peaceful American town ushered in a war: in order to compete for control of the "time machine", a group of teenagers formed an army and launched an attack on the elderly, refusing to be trapped by time and refusing to become boring adults. While the boys resist growing up, the old men avoid the inevitable death. Like a poetic fable, this novel shuttles between reality and dream, slowly and sometimes hurriedly capturing all kinds of unforgettable moments that make people grow up overnight and dare not admit it until old age: revisiting Green Town, staring at the ghost house, listening to the distant bells, running in the river valley, dancing on the cemetery, being kissed by a girl for the first time, feeling the wisdom of the deceased... The unique smell and picture in the air at the end of summer are everyone's childhood.
