About This Novel
Maybe I shouldn't find out the truth, but your life shouldn't be trampled on. An old man who was wandering in Tokyo stabbed a food shop owner to death in Sensoji Temple over a small dispute. Detective Yoshiki Takefumi believes that there is another hidden secret in the case. After various investigations, an unsolved mystery that happened on a snowstorm night in Hokkaido more than 30 years ago gradually surfaced... How much hardship and suffering is hidden behind the shocking conspiracy? In this work, Takefumi Yoshiki has experienced the most bizarre and poignant cases in his life; Shoji Shimada spares no effort in writing and meticulously portrays the clear mind and persistent beliefs of this passionate detective. In 2013, Japan's Shukan Bunshun selected the "BEST 100 East-West Mystery" book list, and this book was well deserved to be selected.

whimsical
It created a lot of suspense, but the answer couldn't convince me. It felt unfeasible and involved a lot of luck and providence. The plot is okay
tragedy
I never thought Shimada could write such a social novel. I was speechless and choked after reading it.
whimsical
The war destroyed their lives, but it also made them stronger.
Very interesting
At first I thought it was an ordinary mystery novel, but I found the plot to be thought-provoking. I understood the whole thing from the perspective of a young detective, and I really enjoyed reading it.
Reflection
This seems to be a criminal investigation novel, but it is actually the hero's ideal of opposing war oppression and pursuing peace, and is full of the desire for human equality.
Unexpectedly wonderful.

The white giant puzzle makes me a little embarrassed
Except for the white giant, which is not a bit of a puzzle, the other content is good. Rather than focusing on the puzzle itself, I think the puzzle is well solved and has more of a social significance! I really feel the ridicule of the consumption tax. . .
Shimada's book is obviously more social. Of course the case design is fantastic. The disadvantage is that the author underestimates the reader's IQ and repeatedly talks about conclusions that can be deduced based on clues.
