About This Novel
The Russian literary legacy highly praised by Wang Xiaobo has been introduced in its entirety for the first time in China. The novel "The Fish King" is Astafiev's most personal masterpiece and a classic of contemporary Russian literature. The book is composed of thirteen "narrative short stories" with relatively independent contents, all centered on the relationship between man and nature. It depicts Siberia full of mysterious temptations in depth and detail, as well as the people living there, and their reflections on life. The desolate, bitter and cold natural environment is at the same time a place where nature shows its majesty, vastness and richness. Although human footprints are like claws in snow and mud, they still carry the dignity of endless life. Traveling around the world is scary for people of any age, and "I" decided to leave home and travel around the world when I was seventeen. I have to say that it is really courageous. If you dare to wander around alone when you are still underage, you will definitely suffer a lot.
