About This Novel
This book is a collection of short stories written by John Updike, the father of the "Rabbit Tetralogy" and a master of contemporary American literature, in the last ten years of his writing career. It was first published after the author's death in 2009 and includes a total of eighteen stories, including "Tears of My Father". These novels are the final short works of a generation of literary giants. In them, Updike reveals his true feelings, looks back on the past in a farewell gesture, records the world with tender touches, and depicts the pain and joy, love and guilt, affection and betrayal, fear and relief of ordinary Americans from the "Great Depression" to the post-9/11 era.
