Selected Novels of Chekhov·the Bride
About This Novel
Chekhov is a world-class master of short stories in Russia and the last critical realist art master in Russia in the late 19th century. Together with the French writer Maupassant and the American writer O. Henry, he is known as one of the "three major short story writers in the world". This collection collects 17 short stories. The protagonist of "The Bride" was about to be a bride, but after being pointed out by others, she opened her eyes and saw the unreasonableness and injustice of her life, so she abandoned her comfortable family life and the comfortable life her fiancé had arranged for her, and went to study far away. Putting aside getting something for nothing and emphasizing self-reliance is the main idea that the author wants to express in the work.
