"The River Is Clear" by Zhang Xiaoqian, a member of the Anhui Provincial Writers Association, is a sad and tragic novel that makes people sad after reading it; the protagonist Meng Jingxin, as a high school student in the 1980s, her study, life and adolescence, the emotional entanglements in her heart, the negative impact of the turbulent period of the Cultural Revolution, the loss of her biological mother, and the life of living under the fence, show a series of troubles, confusions, struggles, and finally return to the kindness and tenacity of the original human being.
