The author chose the word "hate water" as his pen name to encourage himself to cherish time. "Hate water" is just to "cherish time." The name of the protagonist of this book is Huang Xishi, which is profound and thought-provoking. Huang Xishi, a young student, fell in love at first sight with Bai Xingsu, a girl from his hometown. After going to Beijing, they fell in love with each other at the same school and in the same class. Soon, Huang Xishi met the beautiful socialite Mi Jinhua, and then ignored his father's hard work, pretended to be a young man, and spent extravagantly, leaving Bai Xingsu behind. In the end, the lie was exposed, and Huang Xishi was poor and ill. His love, studies, and career were all in vain. He deeply regretted it and became a hiker angrily.
