On the Road
by Jack Kerouac
About This Novel
"On the Road" is Jack Kerouac's masterpiece novel. It tells the story of Sal Parades and Dean Mariadi's group's extensive travels in the United States and Mexico. Most of the story comes from the personal experiences of the author Jack Kerouac and his partners Neal Cassady, Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs and many other "Beat" representatives. It is recognized as a classic of the hippie movement and the Beats in the 1960s. In 1962, five translators, Huang Yushi, Shi Xianrong, Li Wenjun, Liu Huiqin, and He Ru, took the pseudonyms "Shi Rong and Wen Huiru" as their pen names, and worked together to translate and publish China's first excerpt of "On the Road" for internal distribution. In 2019, Mr. Huang Yisi, Huang Yushi's son, completed the supplementary translation, which is now this book.
