This novel is based on the author's interview notes about the history and legends of his father's and mother's families over more than ten years. This is a majestic epic of modern family endeavor and a beautiful picture of rural China. More than a hundred years ago, the father's and mother's families living in the Yeminling area fought openly and secretly all year round in order to compete for local rule, and staged scenes of thrilling dramas. Later, the mother clan took a pre-emptive strike and brutally slaughtered most of the father's clan for the sake of the national treasure, the gold nugget. The greed and selfishness of human nature were fully exposed.
