About This Novel
"Guardians" describes the different emotions, attitudes and countermeasures of grassland herdsmen in the face of the impending loss of their traditional life in the context of the grazing ban policy implemented in some pastoral areas to restore grassland ecology after the reform and opening up. Young people are yearning for a new life in cities and towns, while middle-aged and elderly herders represented by Qiqige love the grassland and the herding life they have continued for generations, and they stick to the grassland and refuse to move to towns to live a "modern life." Different values caused conflicts between them and their children, but the Qiqiges' perseverance finally succeeded, and the younger generation also contributed their knowledge and abilities to the new grassland life. This novel is full of life, the characters are lifelike, and the dialogue descriptions are full of the Mongolian sense of humor.
