Birth of Venus
About This Novel
The novel "The Birth of Venus" is set in Renaissance Florence, an era of confrontation between humanism and religious extremism. 14-Year-old Alexandra was born into a wealthy cloth merchant's family. She was extremely intelligent and therefore a little more proud and wild. Her father invited a young talented painter for the family church. The girl who loves painting and art was very curious about the painter, and she developed an admiration for him. Just when the French army was about to invade Florence, in order to gain the freedom to study painting, Alexandra obeyed her parents' orders and hurriedly married a nobleman who was nearly 50 years old. However, on the painful and embarrassing wedding night, she learned the shocking secret behind the marriage. In the era of rapid changes, the family went through several changes. Alexandra washed away her glory and became the "Bride of Christ", dedicated to painting for God. At the end of her life, she reunited with the painter. After leaving blasphemous and beautiful tattoos on her body, her soul finally rested in peace.

Not bad. It writes the grand history of the Renaissance from the micro-perspective of ordinary people. Humanism, religious asceticism, politics and the fate of ordinary people are intertwined in that era of great changes.
