About This Novel
"The Life of Monsieur Molière" is a biographical novel written by Bulgakov for the French comedy master Molière. Molière was one of Bulgakov's favorite comedy writers. Bulgakov not only adapted many of his plays, but also wrote biographical novels about him, recording his life of "laughing and telling the truth" like a play in a vivid and humorous way. Although the two masters who are well versed in the highest spirit of comedy live more than three hundred years apart, there is an emotional resonance and spiritual agreement between them. They used sarcastic, humorous and absurd comedy language to tear off the ugliest coat of society and system of their respective eras. They all marched hard on the road to adhering to their creative ideals and never gave up.
