About This Novel
"How long have you been walking?" "One sun, one moon, one river, six mountains." In the turbulent 1970s in Taiwan, Gu Axia, an Amis girl who had experienced the darkness of human nature, hid in the stairwell of a restaurant for five years. One day, she finally followed Pajiru, the autistic and unable to speak "King of Killers", to her new home: the forest farm "Morishaka". She worked with him to raise funds to reopen the school, visited schizophrenic veterans, paid tribute to teachers who were political victims, and got in touch with the spirit of faith in joining the world to save people. Facing various tests: heavy rains and strong winds, forest fires, mountaineering snowstorms, the little people used their lives to write legendary stories of their own perseverance and gentleness. This book also describes the tragedy of the White Terror of the Chiang Kai-shek regime, as well as the scene of the crazy deforestation of mountain forests after entering the chainsaw era, presenting a sideways view of that little-known island history.
