In "Spring", Morgan was engaged in the business of renting out fishing boats. He was forced to make a living by transporting "live goods" (smugglers) for others. In order to protect himself, he did not hesitate to risk his own life and got into a lawsuit with his life; in "Autumn", Morgan was engaged in the business of smuggling spirits and lived a life of "licking blood on the edge of a knife"; Although he killed the group of terrorists on the yacht, he was also shot and died. This is one of Hemingway's works that has aroused strong controversy among critics.
