A horse has a woodcut print of a blessing statue on it. Yunnan people buy it and burn paper to pray for peace during the half of July and the Spring Festival. The Midu Xie family also has a secret set of armor and horse paper, which can only be used by some people in the family who have the power of "dreams". The Xie family uses armor and horses to peek into other people's pasts, heal their wounds and resolve their knots. Nineteen-year-old boy Xie Ye traveled from Yunnan to Shanghai to find his biological mother who abandoned her family and returned to Shanghai after giving birth to him. By chance, Xie Ye saw the family photo album of Su Huaishu, a retired professor at Fudan University. There were photos of Su Huaishu when he was a girl studying at Southwest Associated University. The young man taking a photo with her turned out to be the most legendary man in the Xie family, Xie De, whom he called "little grandpa". Out of curiosity, Xie Ye tried to find out about his grandfather's past, and thus met Su Huaishu's granddaughter An Yue. The two young people embark on a journey to find their past together, which eventually leads them into an unexpected situation...
