About This Novel
"Furong Town" is a full-length novel written by Gu Hua. The author has included and condensed the people and things he is familiar with in the southern villages into this book, describing the social customs of southern China's rural areas from 1963 to 1979. The novel combines historical events with pictures of customs and folk customs, uses the fate of the characters to play out the changes in rural life, and depicts the color and mood of life in rural southern China. The novel was published in "Contemporary" in 1981 and won the first Mao Dun Literature Award the following year.
