About This Novel
"Millions of Pounds" is a novel by the famous American writer Mark Twain. It tells the story of a poor American salesman named Henry Adam's adventure in London. Two wealthy brothers in London made a bet to see how Henry would end up within a month by lending him a million-dollar note that could not be cashed. When the one-month deadline came, Henry not only did not starve to death or be arrested, but instead became a rich man, won the heart of a beautiful lady, and got a job with his brother. The article reproduces the irony and humor in the master's novels with a slightly exaggerated artistic technique, and exposes the money worship ideology of British society in the early 20th century.
