About This Novel
In the summer of 1995, Luo Zhenzhong from Qiushi Medical University and a group of medical students came to Hejia City First People's Hospital to become interns. They were about to complete the transition from students to doctors. From a student who only knew medical knowledge, Luo Zhenzhong gradually began to feel the responsibilities that the profession of "doctor" itself must bear. The basic duty of a doctor is to "treat illnesses and save lives." However, behind these four words, Luo Zhenzhong discovered that doctors also need to carry things far beyond the meaning of these four words - how to explain the test results of malignant tumors to the patient's family; how to rationally give some comfort to desperate patients; how to deal with a failed operation. Finally, the psychological construction of the patient and the doctor is completed; if there is a smooth communication when the patient questions the doctor's decision-making... In addition to objective and rational things such as surgery and medical knowledge, she has to face again and again, the test of human nature and psychology is far greater than the former, which is also the only way for a doctor. Although the story is mainly told from Luo Zhenzhong's perspective, it shows a group of medical interns. During the rotation of positions in departments such as surgery, internal medicine, gynecology, and emergency departments, it shows the confusion, turmoil, and growth of a group of young people from school to the workplace.
