The Castle (kafka Collection)
by Franz Kafka
About This Novel
Land surveyor K was traveling on a snowy night to take up a post at the castle, but was trapped in the village outside the castle and unable to enter the castle. The castle's owner, the earl, never appears, and even his chief of staff is nowhere to be seen, but their influence is everywhere. K did not have a permit to enter the castle, so he tried his best to find a way out from officials' mistresses, messengers, village chiefs, service officials, etc. However, his path of exploration was mired in contradictions and fog, and he could never reach his destination. This is Kafka's last novel, and it is also the culmination of his literary creation and a masterpiece that has a profound influence on later generations. The novel uses an absurd and desperate struggle to describe the hopeless and hopeless existence of people in modern society, while at the same time leaving people with huge space for interpretation from different angles.
