About This Novel
This is a great political fable. In 1984, the world was divided between three superpowers. Wars continued between the three countries, and the internal social structures of the countries were completely broken. They all implemented highly centralized rule, using extreme means such as changing history, changing languages, and breaking up families to suppress people's thoughts and instincts. They also used high-tech means to monitor and control people's behavior, and maintained the operation of society with the personal worship of leaders and hatred of domestic and foreign enemies. Winston, a government employee of Oceania, harbored dissent and worked hard to explore the secrets of totalitarian rule and pursue a free life, but was eventually arrested by the Thought Police. After undergoing brutal torture and ideological reform, Winston was executed by firing squad out of his infinite love for Big Brother, the ruler of Oceania.
