"The Legend of the Eight Immortals Achieving the Way" respectively describes the detailed process of the eight great immortals cultivating immortality and attaining the Way. It started from the birth of Taishang Laojun at the turn of the Xia and Shang Dynasties to the time when the eight immortals completed their great achievements and returned to heaven together in the Song Dynasty, which lasted for thousands of years. The novel has rich plots, moving twists and turns, and is quite attractive. Most of the eight great immortals narrated in the story came from the human world. It is said that "immortals are originally made by mortals." They have all experienced thousands of years of cultivation and become immortals. Some of them have been reincarnated as immortals, and some have transformed from animals into humans, and then cultivated themselves into immortals from humans.
