This book is divided into three parts: prose, documentary literature and novels. Prose occupies a small proportion in the whole book, while documentary literature occupies a certain length and covers a wide range of contents. The largest number is novels, with a total of 9 pieces, including two novellas. In the novel, the author touches the people's livelihood and social reality as much as possible ("The Sorrow of Petitioning" and "Nineteenth Floor"), reflecting the social life of a period and a certain region in the process of social development ("World of Life and Death"). When reflecting on the unhealthy tendencies in the selection and appointment of cadres ("Seeking Truth from Facts"), the implementation of retired cadre policies ("Oh, Two Hundred Dollars"), and the purification of the social environment ("Xiao Xie"), the pen is pungent and to the point.
