Nine Links of Purple Linglong
About This Novel
There were two people standing in front of the bulletin board of the Taiyuan government office. One is a tall young Taoist priest whose gray robes have been washed white. The other is a young girl, about eighteen or nineteen years old, wearing a light yellow dress and a big braid. The two of them were concentrating on reading a notice: "A charity bazaar will be held at Feilong Pavilion on March 15th to benefit the countryside. If you are interested, please contact Master Yang to sign up. On February 29th, Taiyuan Prefecture will announce it." The notice was short and meaningless, but the story behind it was very rich. Since last year, there has been no rain in Taiyuan, so the government decided to hold a charity sale to help the victims. The gentry enthusiastically donated treasures, the most valuable of which was a thumb-sized purple diamond called "Purple Linglong" belonging to the wealthy businessman Fang Shimao.
