About This Novel

"Spring Peach" is a collection of Xu Dishan's works in 1935. On the day of their wedding, Chuntao and Li Mao were separated during their escape due to the attack of rebel soldiers. Later, Li Mao joined the army and became a beggar on the streets after his legs were disabled. Chuntao wandered to Peiping to make a living by picking up rags, and fell in love with the shopkeeper for a long time. After Li Mao met Chuntao by chance, Chuntao carried him back. Later Chuntao became the daughter-in-law of Li Mao and Xiang Gao, forming a harmonious family. In the novel, Chuntao is like an eminent monk who has transcended the ordinary rules and precepts of the world. In Chuntao's heart, there are no men and women anymore, all living beings are equal, the husband is no longer the husband, the daughter-in-law is no longer the daughter-in-law, everything is empty. Love and tolerance transcend secular concepts and have become religious "empty" concepts.
