About This Novel
An adventure of Henry Adams, a poor American clerk in London. Two wealthy brothers in London made a bet to see how Henry would end up within a month by lending him a million-dollar note that could not be cashed. When the one-month deadline came, Henry not only did not starve to death or be arrested, but instead became a rich man and won the heart of a beautiful lady. The article reproduces the irony and humor in the master's novels with a slightly exaggerated artistic technique, and exposes the money worship ideology of British society in the early 20th century. It is an important work that cannot be ignored in the selection of Mark Twain's works, and is a very classic short story.

I would like to know which chapter of The Magic of Money in Grade 5 is selected from Chapter One Million Pounds
We happen to have the text of this novel in fifth grade. It's very good.
very nice
Recommend reading this book
The most precious things are often in our own hands. If we lose what we already hold because we want to get more things, that would be the most stupid thing for us! Cherish every moment now, the present is the best, cherish the present! Jin dedicated to myself
Questions about this book
As can be seen from the free chapters alone, which the online version largely omits, the translation completely fails to reflect the irony and humor of Mark Twain's novel. To give a simple example, the highly ironic names of the dog and horse in the first chapter (an allusion to politicians) are completely untranslated or omitted. It is recommended to read the paper version. Mark Twain's essay is worthy of repeated reflection, which is why I give this book a negative review.
I only saw it through the teacher's recommendation. It's very good.
I think it's quite interesting. If you like this book, please give it a thumbs up.
Unfortunately, I don't know much about the historical background of the United States, so I'm ashamed of some of the things I didn't quite understand. But overall, I still like the humorist's language style, and I highly recommend it! It's quite interesting. Some stories have unexpected endings, which reminds me of O. Henry, so next I will go to O. Henry's novels and worship the master Mark Twain.
