About This Novel

This book is compiled based on Zhou's hand-written catalog and recorded Zhou's writings from Shanghai's "Yipao" and "Dabao". It was published from November 1949 to October 1950. The title of the book "After-dinner Essays" was determined by Zhou himself. However, there are still some articles in the catalog of this book compiled by Zhou that have not been published before, such as "A dog learns how to bark like a wolf" and so on, about ten articles. This book contains only a portion of Zhou's self-edited articles. The rest of the articles published in various newspapers and periodicals from the 1950s to the mid-1960s are also included. This book has certain value for studying Zhou's later thoughts and literary academic views.
