Yingzi's Nostalgic Love: Lin Haiyin's Classic Prose Collection

About This Novel
I often think of the old beggar on Hufang Street, and I often want to write him into my novel one day. He is dirty and fat. Dirty, of course, but the fact that the fat man became a beggar was something I had never seen before or since. I felt that it was very inconsistent with his status, so I guess it left an indelible impression on him! I often see him on winter mornings, wearing a large hollow cotton-padded jacket, sitting in front of my house, basking in the morning sun and picking out lice. His saliva has one more use than ours, that is, he puts his index finger on his tongue and licks it, and then sticks the lice on his body with the saliva. He clamps the lice between the nails of his two thumbs and squeezes them. With a "click" sound, the lice is squeezed out. Then dip it in saliva, and then pick up the lice. I heard that lice have grown tails. How disgusting!
