About This Novel
This book is Goethe's most important early work. As soon as it was published, it became popular in Europe and set off "Werther fever". Young Werther came to a small town with simple folk customs. He fell in love with the girl Lotte at first sight; Lotte also liked him, but she was engaged to Werther's friend. Werther fell into embarrassment and pain. He left here, hoping to achieve something in his career so that he could be relieved. The despicable environment and the existing order that suppressed individuality made him unbearable. He then died for love.
