About This Novel

"Four Generations Under One Roof" is Mr. Lao She's masterpiece. It is divided into three parts: "Confusion", "Stealing Life" and "Famine". It is one of the most representative works in Lao She's creative career. It reflects the lives and struggles of ordinary people in the occupied areas of Peiping during the Anti-Japanese War, and shows the difficult and tortuous path that ordinary people have traveled in the historical process of the great era. This full version was back-translated by the translator Bi Bingbin (Dark Horse) based on the English manuscript of "Four Generations Under One Roof" co-translated by Pu Aide and Lao She, and completed the last sixteen sections of the lost third volume "Famine"; in terms of the three standards of honesty and elegance, it has surpassed the already published version.
