About This Novel
This book "Journey to the West" written by Wu Cheng'en is based on "Mr. Li Zhuowu's Criticism of Journey to the West" photocopied by Zhongzhou Painting and Calligraphy Society. It is based on the Shidetang version. Based on this, a few typos in the original version have been corrected and individual missing words in the original version have been filled in. None of the Ming editions have the story of Tang Monk's birth in the current version (only Zhu Dingchen's original version has a simple explanation), so the ninth chapter of Zhang Shushen's "New Journey to the West" of the Qing Dynasty, "Chen Guangrui's Revenge of the Monk in the River when He Was in Disaster", was moved as an appendix and placed after the eighth chapter for readers' reference.
