All Quiet on the Western Front
by (german) Eric Maria Remarque
About This Novel
During World War I, a group of young Germans enlisted in the army with heroic ideals. However, they experienced cruelty and desolation on the battlefield, including bloody flesh, broken limbs, and poisonous bomb gas. Ideals and beliefs, pursuits and dreams were wiped out in the meat grinder of war. The battlefield became the tomb of unknown soldiers, and countless living lives were turned into a string of cold numbers on the death list... But the battle report sent to Germany contained only one sentence: All peace on the Western Front.

Although I know that war is extremely cruel, I was still shocked when I saw the description of the front line in the book. There are no winners in war. I hope the world will be peaceful in the future.
