About This Novel

In 1932, a boy was transferred to the class of 16-year-old Jewish boy Hans Schwartz at Alexander Middle School in Wittenberg, Stuttgart, Germany. This young man whose full name is "Count Conradin von Hohenfels" is a descendant of a prominent local noble. His arrival made all the teachers and students in the class cautious. Hans, like other boys, was eager to attract Conradin's attention, and by chance, due to their shared love for Hölderlin and ancient Greek coins, he really became a sworn friend with Conradin. However, this friendship has been shrouded in the shadow of the Third Reich from the beginning. The anti-Semitic situation has continued to worsen. Hans and Conradin, who have very different identities, had a fierce dispute. Although they agreed to continue to be friends, this friendship came to an end. Hans's parents decided to send him alone to the United States; this was Hans's last winter in Germany, but the two boys could not truly reconcile before parting. Thirty years later, Hans, living in the United States, became a successful lawyer. After learning that his parents were forced to commit suicide, he never opened a page of Holderlin's poetry collection and tried to forget the war and his past as a German. One day, Hans, who is passionate about charity, received a letter from Alexander High School. The letter included a list of alumni who died in World War II... Can Hans and Conradin meet again on the other side of the world?
