Poor people have a hard time wherever they are
Wherever there are people, there is exploitation.
I read this book just after reading Gorky's autobiographical trilogy, so I can't help but feel some comparisons. I feel that Dickens's articles are more popular, and the author talks more; while Gorky feels that he cuts apart everything and people in the world without speaking, allowing readers to read and think for themselves. It is said that Tolstoy ranked this book with the Bible as "the best of all English novels." We can't say anything about this.
