About This Novel

This book is a full-length novel that tells the story of the bumpy and legendary life experiences of two women who were born on the same day, same year, and same month, but with very different identities. The story takes place on the banks of the Pihe River with a long history. In the early spring of 1914, after having eight sons, the Bian family, which had a vast family property, finally expected a daughter to be called Miss Ninth. On the same day, Cui Hua, the daughter of Bian's servant, was born. Although the identities and personalities of the two girls are very different, they grew up together, studied together, and supported and helped each other. Their kindness and persistence, and their tenacity to fight against fate, enabled them to overcome many difficulties together, move toward a new society hand in hand, and live a beautiful new life. This book is interspersed with several beautiful and vivid nursery rhymes that have been sung on both sides of the Pihe River for many years. The water of the Pihe River with the sound of nursery rhymes has taken away one sad story after another along the Pihe River, and also brought new life and expectations.
